Classis Mission Statement

Classis Grand Rapids South is a group of Christian Reformed churches who are committed to:

• bringing honor and glory to God
• making and growing disciples for Jesus Christ
• fostering a sense of mutual understanding and community among our congregations

Who we are

A Classis in the Christian Reformed Denomination is a group of congregations which are associated together for the purpose of helping each other with their ministries and outreach programs. Churches in a classis are generally in the same geographical area.

Classis Grand Rapids South includes 20 congregations and covers an area of Grand Rapids stretching from our Northern most congregation in downtown Grand Rapids to the Southern-most congregation in Wayland Michigan. For more information on our churches, click here.

What we do

We work primarily through our local congregations, but also feel led by the Holy Spirit to work together. We express our unity with and support for one another by:

• praying for each other
• meeting together as a classis three times a year
• providing educational opportunities for all members of classis
• providing opportunities for ministers, elders and deacons to support and encourage each other
• doing ministry work together
